Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Park

A representative from our partner will pick you up from your accommodation at 07:00, brief you about your safari and late transfer to Bwindi. It is about 540 km / 9 hours drive to the southern sector. The drive is quite long but worth it with lots to see along the way, you can even see zebras and impalas grazing in Lake Mburo park. You will have a stopover at the equator for photography and stop in Mbarara town for lunch.

The journey continues and you arrive at your accommodation in the evening. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

After breakfast at the lodge, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger guides. After the briefing, the rangers will lead you into the thick impenetrable forest to start your search for the endangered rare species of mountain gorillas. The gorilla search always continues from the location where they were last seen the previous day. Once you reach the area where these famous species are found, you will only get to interact with them for one hour and you should always maintain maximum silence while you are with these gorillas. You can take photos. Finding the gorillas is such a tiring experience as it can take you almost 3-5 hours to find them. But once you meet these gorillas, you will easily forget the hardships you have gone through to find them and instead save the good memories you will experience with them. After the interaction, you can choose to take a community walk or just relax at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla habituation tour

Gorilla habituation takes place in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park called Rushaga. After breakfast, the driver guide will take you to the information point where you will receive instructions on how to behave in the forest. The Habituation experience gives you more time to learn about the gorillas’ life in the forest and in total you get to spend 4 hours in the presence of gorillas. The idea is to acclimate the gorillas to humans in their habitat to enable gorillas in the future. After this experience you will be driven back to your accommodation.

Day 4 : Transfer to Kibale

Have a beautiful breakfast and check out of the lodge. We drive off to Kibale National Park for the habituation tour of chimpanzees. The trip will be amazing because you will see the amazing scenery of Kabale, you will see the local people farming on top of the hills. You can stop to take pictures. We arrive late and check in at, for example, Chimpanzee Forest lodge, with dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Habituation tour with chimpanzees

A typical day for your chimpanzee habituation starts as early as 06.00. You therefore need to wake up early, have an early breakfast and bring a lunch bag with you. You set off before dawn to meet your guide and then your chimpanzee adventure begins. Your guide leads you to the chimpanzee nest for the night before. The chimpanzees rise at dawn as you approach their nests. And your day of observing the chimpanzees begins.

You will have enough time to watch the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Your day will be interesting and memorable. You will have the opportunity to see chimpanzees leave their roosting nests between 06:00 – 06:30 before feeding, mating, hunting, nursing, resting, patrolling and showing off until it’s time to build new nests around 19:00. It is not just watching the activities of the chimpanzees, but you will learn the unique characteristics and differences of chimpanzees, learn to identify the different chimpanzees as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars and other unique characteristics that make them different from rest. Your eventful day now draws to a close and you head back to your lodge with fond memories and the satisfaction of a day well spent. Don’t forget your camera, because during the activity you will get very nice camera shots of chimpanzees doing different activities. After the experience you will start your journey back to Kampala / Entebbe where you will arrive in the evening.

End of safari and we hope you have a memorable experience!
